Windshield Regulations

Sunscreening devices on windshields must meet all conditions below

AS-1 Line Requirement

Must be applied above the AS-1 line. If no AS-1 line exists, must end 5 inches below the top of windshield.

Color Restrictions

May not be red, amber, or blue in color.

Light Transmission

Must have 25% or more light transmittance when combined with original glass.

Reflectance Limit

Must have 25% or less luminous reflectance when combined with original glass.

Windows immediately to the right and left of the driver

These windows MUST have 25% or more light transmission or the vehicle will fail inspection.

Rear Window Conditions:

With Proper Side Mirrors

If equipped with outside mirrors on both sides that reflect roadway view for 200+ feet: No restrictions on rear window tinting!

Without Proper Side Mirrors

Must meet same 25% light transmission and 25% reflectance limits as front windows.
